Stop the beer duty escalator...
Every year, the beer tax escalator increases the tax on beer by 2% above the rate of inflation, thus adding considerably more pressure on the British pub, the cornerstone of many of our communities. Removing the beer duty escalator at the next budget will help keep beer more affordable and go a long way to supporting the institution that is – the great British pub.
Going to the pub is a core British tradition and so is enjoying great beer. If you want to continue enjoying your fresh pint in your local pub then it’s crucial that you support our campaign to grind the beer duty tax escalator to a halt.
If we don’t show our support for the great British pub, we risk losing more pubs and more jobs within our local communities.

Dorothy's Blissful Beer

A new year and a new beer for Dorothy Goodbody!
Following on from the success of Dorothy Goodbody’s Christmas Cracker in 2011, Wye Valley Brewery has just launched a brand new beer for 2012, Dorothy Goodbody’s Blissful Brown Ale.
Dorothy describes this 4.6% abv beer as having a deeply fruity aroma, leading to a rich, full flavour with raisin and malt sweetness. Available in bottle conditioned format only, it will be on sale in off licenses across the region.
Vernon Amor, Wye Valley Brewery managing director comments ‘Right now it feels like we are awash with very pale extremely bitter beers brewed with imported hops. We thought it was time to brew a dark fruity beer made with locally grown hops to highlight the classic British ale style.’
Brewed exclusively with local hops, Target, Fuggles, Challenger & Goldings this makes for a truly blissful beer.

Herefordshire brewer resists pub closure trend
Wye Valley Brewery is delighted to announce it has purchased the Old Pelican in Gloucester.
With an average of 16 pubs closing every week, this spells good news for discerning beer drinkers in Gloucester. The Old Pelican is a traditional city centre pub, with an enclosed garden, ideally located just off Cathedral Close.
The pub will be closed for a short time whilst some refurbishment is carried out. When it opens, it will sell the full range of Wye Valley Brewery beers, with popular brands such as HPA, Butty Bach and the Dorothy Goodbody range.
Said Vernon Amor Managing Director of Wye Valley Brewery ‘At Wye Valley Brewery we are passionate about pubs, we believe they play an important role in our communities as they are the outlet for our national drink, cask conditioned beer. We are excited by the prospect of reviving the fortunes one of Gloucester’s historic pubs’
