Herefordshire brewer resists pub closure trend

Wye Valley Brewery is delighted to announce it has purchased the Old Pelican in Gloucester.

With an average of 16 pubs closing every week, this spells good news for discerning beer drinkers in Gloucester. The Old Pelican is a traditional city centre pub, with an enclosed garden, ideally located just off Cathedral Close.

The pub will be closed for a short time whilst some refurbishment is carried out. When it opens, it will sell the full range of Wye Valley Brewery beers, with popular brands such as HPA, Butty Bach and the Dorothy Goodbody range.

Said Vernon Amor Managing Director of Wye Valley Brewery ‘At Wye Valley Brewery we are passionate about pubs, we believe they play an important role in our communities as they are the outlet for our national drink, cask conditioned beer. We are excited by the prospect of reviving the fortunes one of Gloucester’s historic pubs’
